Osborne Brings Outstanding Talent To Beloit

The 27th Annual 8-Man All-Star Games will take place this Saturday in Beloit. 79 of the top 8-man football players in the state of Kansas will compete in two games. 10 of those 79 are from the KD Country 94 and Z 96.3 listening area.

Over the past two seasons, the Osborne Bulldogs have cemented themselves as one of the top teams in the state in 8-Man Football. Perhaps the most impressive part of that statement is the fact that the Bulldogs have only been playing 8-Man for two seasons. They used an incredible amount of speed and talent to go 20-4 combined in those two seasons, and they were just one win away from the State Championship Game in 8-Man DI both of those years.

Two very important factors on those teams were Damon Schurr and Ethan Slothower. Both of those players will represent Osborne for the DI West squad this Saturday.

Schurr is well known for his speed. He put together an outstanding two seasons, rushing for 3,433 yards and 65 TD. 2,235 of those yards and 42 of those TD’s came this past season. He also had 287 yards and 6 TD receiving. Schurr was also important on defense, as he had 98 tackles this season. Damon is very excited to be a part of this year’s All-Star Game and through practices this week, he knows that he will be part of a great team.

Slothower was the starting QB for the Bulldogs the past three seasons. He was the definition of a dual threat QB, rushing for 1,095 yards and 23 TD in Steve Tiernan’s run heavy offense his Senior season. He also threw for 760 yards and 10 TD on the season. Even with those numbers, Slothower’s role is more than likely going to be on defense this Saturday. That’s actually a positive for the DI West team. Ethan registered 106 tackles from his LB position in 2011. Slothower is also looking forward to playing in this weekend’s game. He is also proud to represent Osborne along side his teammate Schurr.

There’s no denying the success that Schurr and Slothower have had for Osborne over the past two seasons in 8-Man football. They get the chance to prove their worth to the whole State of Kansas this Saturday in the Division I contest that will kickoff at 10:00 a.m. at Trojan Field in Beloit. KD Country 94 and the 8-Man All-Star Radio Network will begin pregame coverage for the DI Game at 9:30 a.m.
